Northwest Remedy User Group Meeting

September 16, 2003

  •  This meeting was held at the Denali office in Bellevue.

  •  Presentation – Web Services – Geoff Endresen

  •   See URL for link to PPT doc.

  • Q & A:

  • What’s the scalability of Web Services? (Joseph – UW)

  • It does scale well, using the Mid-Tier server and potentially discrete AR Server thread and configurable timeout settings.  Creating a separate pipe (thread) for web input keeps the web traffic from affecting client/server traffic as much

  • Presentation – Mid-Tier View fields – Geoff Endresen

  • See URL for link to PPT doc.

  • Cuts development overhead by reducing the number of views to maintain.

  • Use display-only forms (one for each simulated tab) to control what users can do.  Use those forms to simulate tabs, using graphics (created with something like MS Frontpage) to create.

  • Uses view form servlets to simulate direct URLs.

  • Uses Remedy’s stock CSS form as a basis.

  • Editable and dynamic Help Text – no Remedy Administration access required.

  • Q & A

  • Presentation Rick Cook – What’s new with Remedy?

  • Hot Topics

  • Meeting Schedule:

  • Next meeting: October 21, 6:00 – 8:00.
