Thanks to hosts Geoff Endresen and Rick Cook for sponsoring this meeting. This was
the Agenda.
Northwest Remedy User Group Meeting
May 15, 2001
Minutes by Rick Cook
- This meeting was held at Herrick Douglass in Bellevue.
- Product Demonstration - AR Experts - John Redfield and John
Ellickson presented their AR Explorer tool. http://www.ar-experts.com/.
- AR Explorer is a tool that uses Remedy APIs to assist Remedy developers
in quickly finding the proper piece of workflow to solve a particular
problem.
- Allows for updating multiple objects at once.
- Allows changing a field’s Display name in multiple views as once.
- GUI tool allows entry of Properties, Condition, and Search Values to
find pieces of workflow meeting that criteria.
- Allows modification of multiple field properties at once.
- Name, Execution Order, Permissions, Help Text.
- License costs $2500 per user, who can access one server at a time.
- Hot Topics
- Geoff Endresen proposed that we put the Remedy User Group contacts
database on the NWRUG server, hosted by Herrick Douglass.
- Logins would be required, and no one would be able to access another’s
information.
- It would use HDTD’s Customer Service application to list and track
NWRUG Members’ Names, Phone #s, addresses, etc.
- We will gin up a demo to show at a future meeting.
- Problem with arreload command causing all users to not be able to log in.
- The user_cache and server_cache tables are involved. You must delete the
server_cache file before running arreload.
- Also, sometimes the memory cache gets corrupted, and can be reset by
killing the arserver daemon and restarting it.
- Tricia Callahan reported last meeting that some of her users were getting
"No match" errors relating to Field ID 112 in 4.5.2. The problem
was that 4.0x clients were attempting to access the 4.5.2 server with
floating licenses, which were not recognized as having write access. The
patch was released today, and is being tested.
- The Fall product showcase will be in October, and is tentatively scheduled
to be held in Olympia. The Portland RUG will be invited up to join us.
Next Meeting – June 19 @ 6:00 – 8:00 pm. at the Bill and Melinda Gates
Foundation.
- We are planning on a Crystal Reports presentation.
