Northwest Remedy User Group Meeting
January 16, 2001

  1. This meeting was held at the Herrick Douglass office in Bellevue.
  2. Geoff Endresen demonstrated the new version of Elegant Software’s Sync tool, a free download from http://www.elegantsp.com.
    1. The free version is not guaranteed to work with Remedy 4.5 features, though it will under some circumstances.
  3. Geoff demonstrated Elegant Software’s Copy Entries utility, which works with the Sync tool to bring over data from one server to another.
    1. The utility overwrites the existing data with that from the source server.
      1. It is much faster than Export/Import or Migrator.
      2. You can copy data to/from all forms or just selected ones.
  4. Geoff demonstrated the new Remedy Wireless (WAP) product. http://www.remedyhd.com/arwrls/enu/arwrls.jsp
    1. It is a menu-driven interface to the Remedy system.
    2. The communication between the phone and the system is two-way.
    3. You can create, query, and modify tickets using any of the WAP-enabled cell phones referenced in the Remedy documentation.
    4. View fields one at a time in query/modify mode.
    5. Built on Java Server pages (JSP), so it is as easy to modify as AR Web 4.0.
    6. Some types of Query menus are not supported, as are many other Remedy functions. Check the documentation for exact details.
    7. Suggestions for improvement?
      1. Make Search menus work
      2. Make Query function work more smoothly.
